Wellness Program
The United Way of Mid-Maine began wellness activities in 2007. Simple changes around the office like, including a scale in the staff bathroom, adding water coolers and supplying a cold refrigerator to store fresh food in, began the wellness trend. Also, the United Wy facility is completely tobacco-free to all staff, visitors, and volunteers, continuing their dedication to healthy lifestyles.
In January of 2009, The United Way of Mid-Maine partnered with the Healthy Maine Partnership of Greater Waterville (HMP) to begin a formal wellness program to create sustainable changes in the workplace in addition to the previously established policies. Each month, HMP staff along with the members of United Way of Mid-Maine Wellness Team, present educational materials, updates the Employee Wellness Bulletin Board, hosts lunch and learns, and endorses company-wide wellness challenges to increase healthy living. The Wellness Team has also hosts speakers like a massage and relaxation therapist.
"The United Way of Mid-Maine staff have really embraced improving their health and wellness thanks to our Wellness initiative thorugh Healthy Maine Partnership of Greater Waterville. What's most enjoyable is seeing our team members actively supporting and encouraging each other's healthy behaviors in a fun, team-centered, healthy environment."
~United Way of Mid-Maine President/CPO, Tina Chapman
